Back in the year 2000, having come hot of a World internship program and final stop in the Department of Athletics at The University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI), was given a unique choice…be hired on to assist the football team with equipment and laundry or work on the realization of a multipurpose sports and recreational venue benefitting the disabled followed by the communities of Windsor-Essex County through a unique program entitled Share the Spirit: A Special Project for Special People.
After discussion with some department staff (at Michigan), was advised to take this unique roll as it would push my experience much farther along while giving me the opportunity to manage programs, projects, people, budgets and a facility.
Through this experience, I had the opportunity to serve as the project manager (through the fundraising and development stages) then later general manager (to operate the facility) for the Novelletto Rosati Sports & Recreation Complex at Mic Mac Park (Windsor, Ontario) aka “NRC”.
This experience would set the foundation for my project and event management skills along with fundraising and sponsorship (relationship management) successes, that would later aid in other major projects and events in communities both locally and abroad.
I look forward to calling upon this experience in terms of facility and relationship management, human resources and finance as I work with the separate school board’s accommodations program toward enhancing learning environments for our students and teachers.
Below are some photos underlined with fantastic memories.
